Summary:

Sara Lee Frozen Bakery has an immediate need to hire a maintenance apprentice. Do you want up to 100% of your college tuition paid? If so, apply for our four (4) year Maintenance Apprenticeship program. This program is designed for an individual to take college courses while working full time to learn the mechanical trades of electrical, industrial controls, programming, machining, PLC’s, welding, refrigerationreading blueprints, and fluid power. Our apprenticeship program has a competitive hourly wage and benefit program. After the four (4) year program is complete an individual will have gained a degree from Northwest Michigan College and in-depth knowledge to excel with job openings at Sara Lee Frozen Bakery.   

Requirements: 

Pass an initial drug screen, background check, and pre-placement physical examWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  

Education

An individual must maintain working full-time hours while attending classes at Northwest Michigan College in Traverse City MI. Work hours will be flexible to accommodate class hours which may include working on different shifts. 

Special Skills:

A successful applicant will have the desire to work in a manufacturing environment and have a passion to start their career within the maintenance field. 

Computer Skills: 

The apprentice will need to have basic computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft-based software such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and conduct internet research as necessary.

Communication Skills:

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed. Additionally, the apprentice should have the ability to read and interpret documents, drawings, and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
