This Policy is written with particular attention to our role as an educator-led career awareness platform that serves students through schools. Sections that apply specifically to students and minors are set out below under Students, Minors, and Educational Use, and they control over any more general statement in this Policy where there is a conflict.

We may use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services

How We Share Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:

Service Providers

Third-party vendors and providers that assist with website hosting, analytics, email delivery, CRM systems, marketing automation, cloud storage, security monitoring, and technical support. These providers are permitted to use personal information only to perform services for us and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes.

Employer and Education Partners

Where relevant to career awareness initiatives, educational programs, webinars, events, or opportunities. Employer partners do not receive student personal information for direct recruitment, marketing, or advertising to students. See Students, Minors, and Educational Use below.

Legal and Compliance Obligations

Where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, subpoena, court order, regulatory request, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Explore Careers, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar business transaction. We will continue to protect personal information consistent with this Policy and will provide notice where required by law.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising purposes.

We do not engage in behavioral or targeted advertising and do not use advertising networks or advertising cookies to target users based on online behavior.

The analytics and engagement tools we use to operate and improve our Services, such as Google Analytics and HubSpot, act as our service providers and are not permitted to use your information for their own advertising or independent commercial purposes.

If you have questions about how we handle your information, or wish to exercise the privacy rights described below, you can contact us at privacy@explorecareers.com.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use limited cookies, analytics tools, and similar technical technologies necessary for website functionality, security, performance measurement, and understanding engagement with our Services. This may include tools such as Google Analytics and HubSpot.

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.

We do not use advertising or non-essential tracking technologies to target students or minors.

Students, Minors, and Educational Use

Explore Careers operates as an educator-led career awareness and workforce education platform designed to support schools, educators, career advisors, and educational institutions.

As a general rule, we do not collect identifiable personal information from students or other minors. Schools and educational institutions retain and control student information. We provide career-related content, educational resources, and opportunities to schools and educators, who decide how and when to share that material with their students in accordance with their own safeguarding policies, consent procedures, and applicable parental-consent requirements. The school remains the party responsible for the collection, handling, and protection of student information.

In limited cases—for example, where a school arranges an in-person visit to an employer’s site—we may receive, hold, or transmit a list of attendee names and, where relevant, the associated school solely so that the host employer can verify who is on its premises for security and safeguarding purposes. When this occurs, we use that information only for that specific visit, retain it only as long as necessary for that purpose, and never use it for marketing, advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose. The school authorizes the visit and remains responsible for any required parental permission.

Because of this model, the following also apply:

  • Student data is held by schools. Identifiable student records are generally held by schools, not by Explore Careers. Apart from the limited security-related circumstance described above, information schools share with us is limited to institutional contact details, educator information, or de-identified or aggregate data.
  • No targeted advertising to students. Employers and partners do not advertise, market, target, or solicit employment opportunities to students directly. Career-related content reaches students only through schools and school contacts, who decide how and when to share it.
  • No sale or sharing of student data. We do not sell or share student personal information.
  • No student profiling. We do not build individual profiles of students.

Children Under 13 (COPPA)

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Student materials reach children only through schools, which are responsible for any required parental consent under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Teens Ages 13–17

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from minors aged 13–17 through the Site outside of the school-mediated educational context.

If any opportunity, event, or program would involve a direct registration, application, or communication with a minor in this age range, additional age requirements, eligibility criteria, or consent may apply, and we will not sell or share that information for targeted advertising purposes.

Education Records (FERPA)

Education records remain with schools. We do not act as a recipient of “education records” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

To the extent a school ever directs us to handle such information on its behalf, we would do so only under the school’s direction and only to provide the agreed services, and we would not redisclose it except as authorized by the school or permitted by law.

Parents, Guardians, and Schools

Because identifiable student information is held by the school, requests to review, correct, or delete a student’s information should generally be directed to the relevant school.

You may also contact us at privacy@explorecareers.com and we will assist or direct your request appropriately.

Your U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence—including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with applicable laws—you may have certain privacy rights, subject to exceptions and verification requirements. These may include:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or process
  • The right to access your personal information
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate information
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt out of targeted advertising or certain data sharing
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information
  • The right to opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
  • The right to appeal a denied privacy request where required by applicable law

How to Exercise Your Rights

Submit a request by emailing privacy@explorecareers.com.

We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

Because we do not sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising or profiling, there is generally no such processing to opt out of.

If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Authorized agents may submit requests on your behalf where permitted by law, subject to verification.
