Description
Amsted Rail is an employee-owned, leading supplier to the rail industry through its manufacturing of castings, bearings, axles, wheels and brakes from its railroad product divisions. We are seeking an IT Specialist to provide support for the company’s end-users and PCs at the Kansas City, KS facility. The role is to provide quick diagnosis and resolution of end-users’ technical problems. This includes: installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining PC hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and security. This is an onsite position.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- 1-3 years experience in a Microsoft Windows environment, configuring computers and installing software for end-users on-site and off-site
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting of computer system hardware and software
- Experience with network administration including Microsoft Active Directory administration and Group Policy Management.
- Working knowledge of network engineering principles including basic cabling, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP. Cisco switch/router experience is a plus
- Strong customer service, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) for effective and successful interaction with all levels of staff and outside contacts
- Personality Traits: Team player who is service-oriented, independent, self-starter, innovative, organized and a passion for latest technologies
- Occasional travel may be required to support other facilities
- On-call availability and occasional evening/weekend work may be required
- Experience in a manufacturing industry is a plus
Principal Accountabilities:
- Participate in discussions with key business and production users in order to understand needs, define problems, recommend solutions and represent the Amsted Rail IT organization
- Provide primary end-user support to plant and office personnel for all related IT hardware and software. Primary user interactions are with plant personnel, both in the manufacturing and office environments
- Provide high-quality written system documentation as well as other written communications as required
- Maintain inventory counts for all IT controlled hardware and software
- Perform other duties as required
Educational Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology/Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Prefer a combination of industry technology certifications, such as MCP, MCSE, A+, CCNA, .NET
