Day In The Life at DCI
Ever wondered what it’s really like to work behind the scenes of global trade? At DCI (Depot Connect International), our team makes sure containers are safe, clean, and ready to move — keeping products flowing in and out of ports across the U.S. Whether you’re hands-on with equipment, learning trade skills, or working alongside a tight-knit crew, a career at DCI starts with real experience you can build on.
Yard Technician
At DCI, Yard Technicians are the backbone of the operation. You’ll be outside moving massive shipping containers, keeping things safe, and working with a team that makes global trade possible. If you like hands-on work and want to skip the desk job, this is a great place to start.
Schedule:
7:00 AM – Clock in, grab your safety gear, and get the day’s assignments.
7:30 AM – Move containers using yard equipment and work with your team to keep everything organized.
10:00 AM – Coffee break (and maybe a game of “guess the cargo” with your crew).
10:15 AM – Inspect incoming containers for safety and condition.
12:00 PM – Lunch with the team — swap stories or weekend plans.
1:00 PM – Help coordinate where containers go next.
3:30 PM – Wrap up moves, clean your work area, and prep for tomorrow.
👉 Career Path: Many Yard Technicians move up to Equipment Operator, Dispatcher, or Yard Supervisor roles.
Tank Cleaner
Tanks have to be spotless before they’re reused — and that’s where DCI’s Tank Cleaners come in. Using high-pressure water systems and protective gear, you’ll make sure containers are safe for everything from food products to chemicals. It’s detailed, important work that keeps supply chains running smoothly.
Schedule:
6:45 AM – Arrive, suit up in protective gear, and run safety checks.
7:00 AM – Begin cleaning tanks with high-pressure water systems.
9:00 AM – Inspect tanks to ensure they meet quality standards.
10:30 AM – Short break — grab a snack or chat with your crew.
10:45 AM – Handle specialty cleans for food-grade or chemical tanks.
1:00 PM – Work with maintenance to keep cleaning equipment in top shape.
3:00 PM – Final quality check, log your work, and clock out.

Maintenance Helper

Schedule:
7:00 AM – Meet with the lead mechanic for today’s repair list.
7:30 AM – Hand tools, gather parts, and assist with equipment repairs.

11:00 AM – Help troubleshoot a challenging repair with the team.
